I was born and raised in Southern Ohio, where the glaciers stopped and the Appalachian Peidmont foothills thrust upwards. This area was said to be “rich land and poor people”, but the spirit and genuine nature of the people there, belied their financial poverty.

In 5th grade, i figured out how lawnmowers worked and would find them in the ditches or garbage, and fix and resell them.

I am including the water-ski picture not because I am bragging; I am grateful—grateful for the opportunity and knowledge to work on health AND MORESO that I can demonstrate the potential… to be ‘YOUNGER NEXT YEAR”. I make a dedicated effort to learn about health and to maintain and improve it.

I've engaged in community volunteer work throughout my life. I was corecipient for an elementary school of The Golden Rule Award for elementary school recycling project.

I was first volunteer at the SW Washinton Health District to give presentation to the Board and attend a conference and be recognized for volunteer work there. Along with botehs, I did little private charities like distributing warm garments and cookies to the homeless at Christmas time.

One of my favorite role models and business writers is Steve Covey. I try to emulate his win-win habits of effective people and try always to practice his strategies like “seek first to understand, then be understood”, private victories before public ones, do-it-right-the-first time, “Quality is Free”, start with the end in mind, etc.

I’ve always liked his use of the quote by Thoreau in his book:

"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root…”

“teach to their strengths and mitigate their weaknesses”.
