Casual Meeting

I grew up between California and Michigan as one of eight children. I had no choice but to start working on my people skills at a young age.

I married young. My husband and I joined the US Army together. Our intent was to finish our family with plans to go back to school once we were out.

Things don't always happen as planned. Living several years apart in different countries doesn't do much for a marriage. We ended up getting divorced.

Several years later I met my current husband in Texas. We have been married going on 28 years. I have a son from my first marriage.

Finding myself then as a single parent, rather than going back to school, I found work in California in telecommunications. This resulted in a move to Texas where I worked as an engineer for a large telecom company. Utilizing both technical and people skills, my main role was liaison between marketing, operations, and engineering, negotiating new product development, change management requirements and budgets. This involved full life cycle back-office systems development to support ordering, maintenance, implementation and billing.

Unfortunately, the company I was working for was doing some “creative financing”.

With the writing on the wall, I began looking for an alternative career that would match my current income. I settled on getting trained (taking night classes) and licensed in aesthetics. People tend to think that is quite a change, but it really wasn't. The process was still the same; analyze the problem, develop a plan for resolving the issue then rather than working with groups, I worked with individual clients to resolve their issues.

While still working in my telecom position which required frequent travel, I knew I couldn't expect anyone to hire me. So, I opened my own shop taking appointments nights and weekends. This lasted for 3 yrs. before I was completely transitioned.

Considering the business, I was in was dependent on discretionary spending, my business went through trials and tribulations resulting from the financial crisis of 2008 and the Covid shutdowns. The business never really recovered to the level I wanted it to after Covid. After 24 years in business, with equipment needing to be updated and so near to retirement, I decided to close my business.

When I discovered Mom and Pop Business Funding, I knew this was something I wanted to do. I want to help mom and pop businesses succeed and have their dreams realized. This is the American dream. Having ran my own business for many years, I felt the ups and downs. I am now in a position to help businesses with a lifeline before they reach that slippery slope of no return. At times, even a healthy business needs working capital to keep it competitive. It would be an honor to participate in your continuing success.
